Palestine-Saudi Arabia: Part 1

Day-987. WorldCup2018‬.

Politics interferes with football, again and again. The Palestine-Saudi Arabia World Cup qualifier scheduled for Tuesday in the West Bank has been postponed. Saudi Arabia demanded it be played at a neutral venue, "citing undefined exceptional circumstances". Palestine say, "Depriving Palestine of the right to play at home is a dangerous precedent and impossible to accept under any conditions.” Difficult to argue with that.

The most surprising part of this story for me was that the Saudi demand was accepted by the Russia 2018 organising committee, chaired by Michel Platini. Michel Platini, in a spot of bother over his "disloyal payment" from Sepp Blatter and Fifa is chairing the organising committee of the World Cup, an event owned by the same organization that he is trying to prove he is not guity of associating with.
